Government and industry experts who’ve seen the PulseStar® EMP mitigation technologies from Face X, LLC call them “game-changers” that can “revolutionize” the mitigation of the catastrophic effects of an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) event.
An EMP sneak attack has long been a recognized threat to U.S. military assets and the nation’s critical infrastructure.
The war in Ukraine has greatly heightened the concerns of an EMP assault both against the American homeland and Europe, fears that had ratcheted up in 2021 when the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff declared the Chinese test of a hypersonic delivery system close to a “Sputnik Moment.”
… China’s shocking test of a new hypersonic glide vehicle last summer has some analysts fearing it could give the nation’s Communist leaders the perfect avenue to deploy a high-altitude EMP, offering the chance to defeat the U.S. by sparking a long-lasting blackout, shutting down food and water delivery systems, and crushing military communications and contact with far-flung posts.

The fully-scalable PulseStar® EMP mitigation technologies will provide a non-invasive means of protecting devices, systems, and facilities against the existential consequences of an EMP event – be it man-made or the result of a solar flare.
The Carrington Event of 1859 is history’s most famous solar storm and a 2020 study projected there’s a 7% to 40% chance of a recurrence every ten years.
Our research shows that a super-storm can happen more often than we thought. Don’t be misled by the stats, it can happen any time, we simply don’t know when and right now we can’t predict when.

A Faraday shield is the proven way to protect against all electromagnetic threats. The problem has been how to get power and data through the shield without drilling holes to allow power and data wires to pass through, which also provides a path for the EMP pulse.
PulseStar® EMP mitigation technology enables power and data to be transmitted through the shield’s solid metal without any penetrations, so the shield remains intact and 100% effective. Every other EMP protection system requires holes, so their effectiveness is unavoidably diminished.
The piezoelectric device central to the PulseStar® EMP mitigation technology transmits power and data by converting the electricity into high-density acoustic energy which passes through the shield and is then efficiently transformed back into electricity inside the protected area. The shield itself becomes part of the acoustic system.
This process, undetectable to the human ear, can be reversed so that the shielded device/system can transmit power and data back to the outside world.
This unprecedented technology affords – at a lower life-cycle cost – the same level of protection used to safeguard the U.S. government’s most valuable national electronic assets.
The PulseStar® transmitter (left) transforms electricity into acoustic energy which passes through the Faraday shield and is transformed back into electricity by the PulseStar® receiver (right).
Most often, PulseStar® will outlive the devices and systems it protects. It has no moving parts. It doesn’t wear out. It uses no rare earth and no toxic materials.
After a national security review, U.S. officials decided to allow Face X™ to offer these products globally. The thinking is that the motivation to develop and deploy EMP weapons will be lessened knowing that all nations can erect an effective defense at the device, system, and facility level.

The first patented and patent pending PulseStar® EMP mitigation products – with performance confirmed by expert third-party testing – will be delivered to the market this year.
PulseStar® EMP mitigation systems are on an evolutionary path of increasing power capacity. In 2024/2025, this growing family of EMP protection technologies will be engineered for power grid assets, such as substations.
Products in another PulseStar® application are also being developed.
While PulseStar® EMP Mitigation Technology protects against harmful radiation penetrating shielded areas, PulseStar® Emissions Security Technology protects against the leakage of emissions from electronic systems that’s a recognized and serious security risk.
Electronic information systems emit electromagnetic radiation that in some cases reveal sensitive information. PulseStar® mitigates the risk by blocking the conducted emissions, thus blocking eavesdroppers from collecting and analyzing the information present on power lines.
Spying opportunities are not confined to public places. What you may believe are secure communications originating in what you think are secure spaces can be monitored by eavesdroppers at a remote location.
TEMPEST is a U.S. National Security Agency term for such spying.
